ResinDek Evaluation Service Report & Fire Compliance
IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) has issued a Uniform Evaluation Report verifying that ResinDek engineered flooring panels are in compliance with International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC) and UL Fire-Resistance Ratings.
What is a Uniform Evaluation Service Report?
This Uniform Evaluation Service report is a product evaluation performed by IAPMO. It provides an evaluation of products’ compliance with various building codes, standards, and regulations and serves as a valuable tool for architects, engineers, contractors, and building officials when reviewing plans and specifications.
IAPMO the independent, third-party organization (which itself is ANSI Accredited) evaluated our panels’ suitability for use in Types I-V construction (US: ER 467, Canada: UEL 5027) and as part of a fire-resistance rated assembly when properly installed. The evaluation included a review of the physical, structural, surface burning, fire-resistance and ignition properties of the panels.
As an elevated flooring solution, ResinDek panels—which are engineered for use as a floor for mezzanines, industrial work platforms, equipment platforms, pick modules and self-storage facilities—will continue to be audited annually assuring local building officials that they are reviewing the most-up-to-date information.
The UES Report on ResinDek flooring assembly is currently available in two versions, one for the United States, and the second for Canada and its provinces. Both can be found below. Please contact us for additional fire code information.
UL Classification for ResinDek Flooring
The ResinDek flooring system is UL Classified for up to a 2-hour fire-rated assembly (Design L701, File R39265).
What is a Uniform Evaluation Service Report?
By choosing the ResinDek flooring solution you can rest assured that you’re investing in a safe, reliable, and high-quality solution. Since our flooring products have already been independently evaluated and meet the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and UL Fire-Resistance Ratings compliance requirements as part of a fire-resistance-rated assembly, you can streamline the approval process for your projects, which will ultimately lead to reduced project costs and fewer delays.
American Society for Testing & Materials ASTM E-84 Class A
ResinDek Xspan® FR flame resistant structural flooring panels meet ASTM E-84 Class “A” flame spread less than 25. ASTM E-84 is a critical fire safety standard that evaluates the surface burning characteristics of building materials by measuring the Flame Spread Index (FSI) and Smoke Developed Index (SDI). It is known as the Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and is designed to assess how materials react to fire. This test is particularly important for materials used in construction, as it helps determine safety and compliance with building codes.
Fire Retardant Class BFL-s1 | B-s1,d0
ResinDek Xspan FR flame resistant structural flooring panels meet European standards B-Class (BFL-s1 | B-s1,d0) for both top and bottom. The B-Class designation refers to European fire classification standards for construction materials, specifically under the EN 13501-1 system. These classifications access both the reaction to fire and smoke production of building products. This classification is commonly required for materials used in public buildings, commercial spaces, and areas with strict fire safety requirements throughout Europe, representing a good balance between fire safety performance and material versatility.
Resistance to Fire Classification (REI)
ResinDek HD flooring panels over B-Deck have an REI15. REI15 is a European fire resistance classification that indicates a building element can maintain its structural and protective functions for at least 15 minutes when exposed to fire. REI15 is typically applied to products and structural elements in areas where brief fire containment is required, such as separating low-risk spaces or providing basic compartmentation in buildings.
